JANUARY 25th 2011...

We had a great meeting Wednesday night and we appreciate all the drivers that came out to participate and give constructive opinions for us to go over. For those that weren’t there, here are some of the items we went over on Wednesday…

***CCR will allow the Burris Piston to be used in the flathead motors for 2011…more information as we go, but speak with your engine builder and they are very aware of the Burris Piston and this will allow racers’ motors to last longer as they have half size pistons where Briggs’ supply of the half size pistons have run out!

***We will be running 10 Lap heats for all classes in 2011 EXCEPT the stock novice class. This offers you the racers more time on the track for the same low price.

***We will be allowing the LO 206 JR animal to be run in the stock novice division with the flatheads for the 2011 season. We are working on some rules for that, but if you buy the motor, there will be minimal changes and whatever does change (carb slide size) We will supply you with the part at cost for our racers. Anyone with interest in the 206 motor, can contact Craig & Barb Barker at 922-5278 for info & pricing.

***We have had some interest in starting a Super Heavy Class…We have agreed in the meeting to do a Supers class, if more than 3 or 4, they will run by themselves, otherwise they will run with the Heavies and will be scored separately.

***We also have had a few calls regarding the Clones…We are interested in doing a clone class. We would do stock yellow clones at 375lbs with a claimer…I will look into the rules and post them soon. This motor usually sells for $200 or so and is a good alternative for racers that just want to come out and have a good time for a cheap price!

***We also talked about the LO 206 Adult class as well. We need input from you guys over the next few weeks to tell us what way to go, Clone or LO 206…Call or email me with your opinions.

***Slingshots, there is no minimum tire pressure rule anymore, the new weight for the All-stars is 775lbs and the Jrs are still 685lbs.

***We will have a Tobias National race at the track on Saturday, August 27th! CCR will add an additional $250 to the Slingshot purse for the winner that day besides the normal payout. The 2011 Payout for the All-stars will remain the same (50% each week + trophy). It was decided by us that any additional money races for the slingshots would be decided week-to-week depending on car count.

***Kart tech: We spoke about tech and talked about the way our tech man chooses classes to tech and what he does with those classes. We are proud to have tech at our track and one of the best in the northeast! We do tech on an average of 50% or more of the kart classes each and every week. Everything is checked from Fuel (water & hydrometer), Carbuerator, restrictors, pop-up and complete teardowns. We firmly believe that a good tech program comes before anything else and our racing level of competition show that. We had a lot of very good and close races last year and we will continue to do the very best job in the tech barn we can!!!

***Slingshot Tech: Contrary to the rumors out there…Here’s the truth. Yes, we do tech every week for the Slingshot division in one form or another. At the end of last year, we pulled the heads and checked the bore sizes and valves as well as a few other things that were being tampered with…We DID NOT do it every week and never intended to either. What we do intend on doing is cut out the possibility of that situation being an issue. We will do tech in 2011 on a weekly basis and we will at our discretion do spot checks on that area as well. We cannot and do not speak for Tobias or any other tracks as to why they do or don’t do certain tech items…We have to answer to the LOYAL, LEGAL people that race at our track weekly, regardless if that’s 4 or 14 cars. Now, all the slingshot drivers know what’s expected of them tech wise and legality wise, if that’s not what you want, and you want to run a “loose” set of rules, we will say this in the nicest terms possible: there are other places that don’t do as much or any tech at all and that may be where you should race. The loyal racers that want a fair class as it was designed to be are speaking, and we are trying to do as we do with the karts and provide that for them!!!

***We are doing the kart show at the Pyramid mall in Johnstown NY again this year and I will post more info as it comes available and finalized…

***The Banquet date is going to be pushed back another week so that people that want to race the OVRP weekend show can and the banquet doesn’t interfere…Final Date TBD…

***Sponsors: As usual, we try and put our sponsors first and foremost on the website as well as on our schedules…this year is no exception. We are working on finalizing all the sponsorships for 2011, so if you have last year or are interested this year, please give myself or Tom a call to confirm your sponsorship for this year so that we include you on the schedules and the website! Our info is on the “contact us” page of the website!!!!

***TOUR: With the addition of the NYDKS series and a lot of people running the PDKS for 2011 and most of all the very bad economy and expected higher gas prices, we have decided to not run a full tour race program this year. Instead, we are working with Paradise and will be putting something together like last years race there with $1000 to win heavies and at CCR with $500 to Win Lites and $500 to Win Heavies and a bonus to the racer that can win 1 at CCR and Paradise…We feel that with the economy the way it is and everyone traveling a lot as it is, we don’t want to push another thing out there and not have it benefit the racers or the tracks by having low counts. We have vowed to take the year off from the full tour and focus on CCR totally for 2011 and come back possibly in 2012 with even bigger counts and better $$$ as well. Lets pray that the economy picks up and people are able to spend more and do more with their families!!!

***IMPROVMENTS: This past year after racing was over, we did a ton of work at the track, both on the surface and to the grounds around it. We are committed to always be improving the track and grounds and to do the best for you, the racers that support the track!!! We have added approximately 20 Truckloads of clay as well as the addition of more PA speakers to better hear the race announcer and also some additional lighting is being added to the track as well! Tom and I are so excited about 2011 and possibilities for our track! We hope that you can come out and join us for the evenings and if not every week, come and try us out on some of the handful of Saturday shows we’ll be having! We guarantee you’ll see a great show and a group of people that strives to do the very best for the racers, surface wise and fairness wise every single week!! I also invite you to add yourself to the family email list so that you are in tune with the entire future goings on at CCR!!!

Sincerely,
Eric Miller / Tom Hall
